Data Visualization, 2025

Project Description

Make a poster that visually represents a set of data.

Design Statement

I chose to use wealth statistics from the US Federal Reserve website because the information there is represented in charts and graphs that are rather difficult to read and I wanted to make the information more digestible. I decided to show the distribution of wealth through two connected bar graphs. The top graph visually shows the total amount of money each group has, and the bottom graph shows how many American citizens belong to that group. I had the line for the "bottom 90%" group wrap around the entirety of the poster to really drive home how big the disparity is. All of the lines are to scale using the governments data.

To the right of the bar graph are four groups of dots. These represent the average wealth of a single person in each of the groups. This allows the viewer to easily understand how much more money the wealthy have compared to the average American citizen.

Climate Poster, 2024

Project Description

Make a poster about a climate issue.

Design Statement

I wanted to use a common metaphor that I believe many people would recognize as an allegory for climate change and global warming. I feel as though the metaphor very closely resembles the reality of global warming. The question that the viewer is asked at the bottom of the poster is intended to make the viewer ask themselves what is it that they are doing to try and "jump out" or stop global warming.

Social Issue, 2024

Project Description

Make a poster regarding a social issue.

Design Statement

This poster parodies the very famous 20th Century Studios intro, as well as the verbiage from the anti-piracy campaigns of the early 2000s. The poster is meant to make the viewer consider who is it that's actually being affected when someone commits an act of piracy.
